Porsche has released local details of its new base model Macan, which is due to hit Australia in early 2017.
The four-pot Macan, revealed at the New York Motor Show earlier this year, will at $76,610 before on-road costs – and before any of the extensive options list is factored in.
It’s priced approximately $15,000 cheaper than the next most affordable version, the $91,855 Macan S diesel, marking the new entry point to the Porsche range in Australia.
It’ll be powered by a version of the VW Group’s EA888 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 185kW and 270Nm; it’s a drop of 65kW over the former entry level Macan S. The engine is the same spec as that found in sister brand Audi’s A4 2.0 TFSI quattro, and will propel the Macan to 100km/h in a still-brisk 6.7 seconds (6.5s with the optional Sport Chrono Package).
Porsche says the 1770kg Macan will return 7.4L/100km on the combined fuel economy cycle.
Externally, there’s little to give away the four-potter from its six cylinder siblings, save for black window surrounds and black brake calipers.
The new range-starting Macan will offer all-wheel-drive, a seven-speed double-clutch gearbox, traditional steel-spring suspension and 19-inch rims. Porsche’s air suspension and adaptive damping is available as an option.
Other standard features include bi-Xenon headlights, front and rear parking sensors and reversing camera, lane departure warning, memory-capable electric driver’s seat, Alcantara seat inserts, three-zone climate control, DAB+ radio, tyre pressure monitoring and Porsche’s PSM multimedia system with satellite navigation.
