New Lexus LS

Lexus has claimed its second win in the JD Power Australia after-sales satisfaction study, beating out luxury rivals Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

Lexus scored 852 points out of a possible 1000, with defending winner Mercedes-Benz in second with 828. Audi was just two points back in third, with BMW fourth on 811.

The overall level of service for all of the brands has risen over the last two years, according to JD Power. Overall satisfaction scores increased to an average of 824 in 2016, up from 817 in 2015 and 803 in 2014.

Now in its seventh year, the study measures overall satisfaction with the service experience at an authorised service centre by judging five factors that include service quality, vehicle pick-up, the quality of the service advisor, service initiation and the service facility.

Lexus first won the award in 2011, while Mercedes-Benz took the wins in 2014 and 2015.

Meanwhile, Lexus has announced that it will preview its latest luxury saloon, the LS, at the Detroit Auto Show in January, 28 years after the LS 400 heralded the debut of Toyota’s luxury offshoot in the United States.

Coming hot on the heels of the sleek LC 500 coupe launch, the larger LS is also built on Lexus’ new GA-L rear-wheel drive platform, and is likely to share the LC 500’s 5.0-litre V8 engine and new 10-speed automatic gearbox.

A hybrid version is also likely to surface.
