Volkswagen Australia has detailed pricing for the four-cylinder versions of its freshly updated Amarok ute which introduce styling tweaks and a revised line-up.
The German brand has dropped the single-cab body style from its line-up as part of a "streamlining” of the ute range, meaning four variants are gone.
Volkswagen has also killed off the six-speed manual versions of the 4x2 four-pot.
Highline and Ultimate variant names are no longer used for the smaller capacity engine and are applied to the V6 instead.
Mid-spec variants are dubbed Core, while the more generously equipped variants wear the Core Plus moniker.
The 2017 four-pot Amarok gains the visual tweaks introduced with the potent V6 variant that lobbed Down Under in November last year. Changes to the four-cylinder include a new front bumper design, while the 4x4 variant has a ground clearance of up to 34mm higher.
Inside, all variants gain an updated interior that now features a Composition Media unit with App-Connect, that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as housing a reversing camera.
Other features include rear parking sensors on all ute variants – but not the cab chassis – which is standard on the 4x2 and optional on 4x4.
The Amarok’s 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine remains unchanged and delivers 132kW of power and 400Nm of torque.
VW’s 'Multi-Collision Brake' system is now standard fare across the range as part of the deal.
Core Plus variants gain a post-collision braking system and front parking sensors as well as carpet floor covering, updated cloth seat trim, additional 12V sockets, body coloured mirrors and door handles, rear grab handles and interior lights.
The Amarok’s 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine remains unchanged and delivers 132kW of power and 400Nm of torque, which lifts to 420Nm when paired with the eight-speed automatic transmission.
Pricing kicks off from $38,490 plus on-road costs for the base two-wheel drive TDI420 Dual Cab Chassis with an auto transmission, moving up to $44,990 for the TDI420 Core 4x4 Dual Cab Chassis with the auto, and topping out at $50,490 for the TDI420 Core Plus 4x4 Dual Cab Ute with auto.
As previously reported, the V6 is priced at $59,990 for the Highline and tops out at $67,990 for the Ultimate.
