BMW Australia has released pricing for its updated 4 Series range, increasing prices on some of its petrol-powered variants, while the sole diesel option, the 420d, has been dropped from the range.
Prices of the entry-level 420i have risen by $1000 to $69,900 before on-roads in the Coupe and four-door Gran Coupe variants, while the drop-top 420i Convertible has gone up by $2000 to $87,900.
The only other variant to experience a price rise is the 430i Convertible, which has increased by $1000 to $97,900.
To the naked eye, the new 4 Series seems almost the same as the outgoing model but there are a number of subtle tweaks.
The German car-maker also ditched the diesel-powered version of the smaller 2 Series Coupe as part of a model update midway through last year.
BMW’s latest 4 Series update comes relatively soon after the range was revamped in July 2016, which involved powertrain tweaks and renamed model designations.
No changes have been made to the powertrain outputs in the latest update, with power figures remaining at 135kW/270Nm for the 2.0-litre turbo four-pot 420i, while the 430i boosts power to 185kW/350Nm from the same capacity engine. The turbocharged inline six in the 440i continues to produce 240kW/450Nm.
All variants send power to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The 440i now gets adaptive LED lights as standard, which are offered as options on lower variants.
The 420i received a tweaked front apron and rear bumper design with the addition of the Luxury Line package as standard, which also includes 19-inch light alloy wheels.
Two new colours have been added exclusively for the 4 Series range – Sunset Orange and Snapper Rocks Blue – while two colours have also been sourced from the 7 Series range – Frozen Silver and Aventurine Red.
Last year BMW sold 1551 examples of the 4 Series Coupe and Convertible, down 19.3 per cent compared to its 2015 figure.
On the inside, the updated range adds BMW’s latest iDrive6 infotainment system, sports steering wheel with Nora leather, Walknappa leather for the 440i’s instrument panel, chrome highlights and a range of leather and trim options.
Windscreen wiper and indicator stalks now offer a more tactile experience by snapping into place, while the buttons for the rain-sensing wipers and high-beams stay depressed while in operation.
Standard equipment for the 420i includes front and rear parking sensors, lane change warning, rear and surround-view camera, six-speaker stereo, head-up display, electric sports seats with memory function, DAB+ radio and real-time traffic information.
Stepping up to the 430i nets buyers an M Sport styling package, electric lumbar support for driver and front passenger, nine-speaker Loudspeaker audio system and keyless entry.
The top-spec 440i adds heated front seats, high beam assist, active cruise control with stop and go function, parking assistant, a harman/kardon 16-speaker 600W surround sound system, ConnectedDrive concierge services and air collar for Convertible variants.
Last year BMW sold 1551 examples of the 4 Series Coupe and Convertible, down 19.3 per cent compared to its 2015 figure of 1921 units.
In the first quarter of 2017, BMW has found homes for 344 4 Series Coupes and Convertibles, representing a 15 per cent drop in year-on-year sales.
Mercedes-Benz's C-Class Coupe and Convertible comfortably leads the segment this year with 912 sales, while the all-new Audi A5, which lobbed in two-door coupe form last month but is yet to arrive in convertible guise, has registered 120 sales.
